An Application Programming Interface (API) is a set of routines, protocols, and tools that software programmers can use for building software applications.
The Genomics API developed by the GA4GH provides standards for the interoperable exchange of information between genomic data providers and consumers and allows them to work together on a global scale, advancing genome research and clinical application.
Users can obtain the API as a stand-alone, downloadable, and installable server package:(i)the latest schema,(ii)full documentation, and (iii)Compliance Framework for certification of schema conformance. Throughout 2016, the DWG will be releasing new representation for the major genomic data domains, including Variant Annotation, Genotype to Phenotype associations, Metadata, Reference, RNASeq data, and Sequence Annotation.
We invite any and all interested software developers to get involved in further development, to download the server, run it, use it, report bugs, and provide feedback. To get involved and to access the most recent version of the API please visit our github site
